Preview presentations

Below are the presentations that you may have seen while attending Preview Orientation sessions:

Feel free to review our website, we have extensive information on many services offered and recommend many health-related sites to help your search. Remember, we offer several services to assist you even when you are not sick.

A word on chronic illnesses

We realize that many students may have to deal with a chronic illness while away from home and enduring the college life in a new town. If you have a chronic illness that needs to be managed regularly, the Student Health Care Center can provide most services to treat you.

Schedule an initial appointment with your team provider to discuss treatment. If we cannot treat you at the SHCC, there are many resources on campus that can help. The SHCC provider will refer you to a qualified community provider.

In order to find out which Team you are assigned, call the SHCC at (352) 392-1161.

How to communicate about your health

The Institute for Child Health Policy at the University of Florida created a video for teens and young adults to help them learn how to communicate effectively with their health care provider. Watch this video now.

A Word on Florida's Wildlife

The Student Health Care Center offers the required and recommended immunizations for you to enter school. We also offer vaccines and care for animal bites. Be careful, there are new and exciting animals out there in Alachua county!

Anyone working with unvaccinated carnivores goes through pre-employment rabies pre-exposure series. Unvaccinated, non-domesticated (feral) cats, and dogs are potential rabies carriers. Wild mammals, such as raccoons and bats are also potential rabies vectors.

Bottom line: Do not interact directly with wildlife on campus. Don't feed the alligators, or the squirrels or try to pick up a pet, instead, enjoy UF's wildlife from a distance!
